I actually can’t write the phrase “Dense Bean Salad” again after this is published so this may be the last you hear of them. I typically don’t explain recipes or share my process because I find it all a bit trivial, or perhaps obvious. To me, a dense bean salad recipe can exist from seeing the photo and then making some guesses and adjustments based on seasonality and personal preferences. I realize that this isn’t everyone’s approach to cooking but I think it should be. I also realize that I got to this place by at one point following recipes. For this reason, I’ll send through some dense bean salad recipes with the understanding that these can be altered and accessorized however you’d like. You might make a bad dense bean salad and that’s actually a win, now you know for next time, just more information in the rolodex.

The Dense Bean Salad that started my love of Dense Bean Salads

Castelvetrano, Cucumber, Black Bean Dense Bean Salad

This is my best Dense Bean Salad to date, I’ve made many an iteration, I even made it for a close friend who just gave birth and I wouldn’t dare feed her anything but gold so that means something.

  • 1 Can Black Beans, Rinsed and Drained (my favorite brand is Jovial which you can get at Whole Foods)
